some slightly crap lip synch!

i have brushed the cobwebs off my lightbox, and did a wee tiny bit of basic lipsynch for sarah dargie and eleanor affleck's film "a sweet dispostiotion" - it's soooo rubbish, but i hope to use it as a starting point to get some shinier stuff done :)

you can see it here on sarah dargie's very lovely blog : http://love-in-the-time-of-metropolis.blogspot.com/2010/11/but-i-like-mice.html

also a wee link to elenor affleck's awesome film blog for "a sweet disposition": http://a-sweet-disposition.blogspot.com/

My Film!

So here's my graduate film i did for my 4th year at duncan of jordanstone, dundee. It was developed from a graphic novel, and took about a year and a half to develop, animate and finish :) i was in charge of the direction, script, character design, lead animation, and all after effects wizardry... :)

colouring

With only 2 weeks left on the film, it's all steam ahead. I've only got one more scene to keyframe thank god, but unfortunately it means most on my time right now is taken up with inking and colouring. Inking i really enjoy - we've got lovely indian ink caligraphic pens which i LOVE. Colouring on the other hand is awful. I usually enjoy all aspects of animation - but not colouring. It's just so dull and tedious, with no creativity involved at all...eugh....but needs must! Here's a wee screen grab of the lipsynch scene i'm colouring right now.

edinburgh ramblings

I went through to edinburgh on monday this week. It was so lovely to get away from dundee - i've been so hemmed in by it recently, itching to see other places. I'm a total noob with edinburgh, but luckily i had my very lovely boyfriend and his sister to show me around. We went to some lovely wee charity shops, a really nice little illustration shop, and a brilliant vintage shop we got lost in for a while. But my favourite place was a mexican shop (http://www.caoba.co.uk/index.php) which was packed with amazing mexican stuff: embellished crosses, painted tiles, and lovely day of dead artwork. It's re-awakened my love for day of the dead art, so i've been browsing my virtual scrapbook of images i've collected over the years:

photo's

must try harder - a month without a blog update is not good. I've been having a severe increase in workload at uni, and as a result all my creativity seems zapped. These photo's are the only thing i've done for my personal creativity that i actually like! Shot through a glass of water.

inspirationing

In a moment of lost-ness, i always return to my two favourite artists for inspirations, Jim Dine and Philip Guston. It never ceases to amaze me how one flick through a book of their artwork can turn my whole day around and make me believe that it's all worth while.
